Picture Perfect

In the old days, Ads used to be painted not photographed, Vogue covers were painted for years on since it started. However, today it seems that we are falling under more and more pressure of having the perfect look for the perfect pictures.

Looking good has evolved from being genetically blessed with a photogenic face to having a good photo editing program. I being a big supporter of photoshop, without sounding too hypocritical, believe that that picture perfect profile pic has become more of an obsession for this digital generation.

Don't get me wrong, I love me that picture that hides all the flaws and flaunts all the goods, but to an extent, its like hiding some truth from the world. Of course the whole world does not need to know the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, but how far can you really go?

The perfect camera, the perfect angle, the perfect pose, the perfect colors, the perfect flash settings, the perfect background, all decide to have sex together, have a baby, and that baby is the offspring of an ugly person with the gracious givings of lady manipulation. But, when that child goes to school, and his schoolmates want to meet his parents, what happens? Is he really going to where the "if you think I'm cute you should see my mom" t-shirt?

Even though we're under the pressure of a pressurized airbrush machine that makes everything perfect, how far can we go? Can we reach the point where we see everything through a lens that airbrushes everything and be blinded to reality?

Then we go to the old as time debate: is not telling the whole truth the same as lying? I believe its not so I'll be on the pro team. I believe every person wants to point out their assets. Girl with big boobs will flaunt it, guy with great abs flex it, woman with pretty lips will pout it, etc. they all want to highlight their sell points and hide their flaws. Its human nature, we all know that no one is perfect, but we want the image to be.

Picture this scenario: you walk into a store to buy a coffee machine. Coffee machine happens to be in a box and not on display, but a picture is on the box, and the box highlights that it makes instant coffee in seconds, doesn't require any work, just fill and push the button. You buy, you go home, you try to work it but, its too complicated!! Would you feel cheated? or would you use the rational side of your brain and say: my fault didn't read the whole description and take it out of the box at the store.

Everyone should feel good about themselves even though if that version of themselves is a combination of perfected computer skills. However, EVERYONE should also know that it comes with a warning sign that reads: I'm not telling the whole truth, you should read into me. Who knows, maybe you'd read into it so well you'd make a science or an art out of it: Seeing the other side of the story.

First Come, First Serve

Ever felt that the world has nothing new? Let me rephrase that... Ever wanted to invent something new and have found it to be already in existence?

If you are a born genius, STOP READING. If your are normal like me, proceed to check out.

People are always in search of new ways to come up with something innovative and make money out of it. But in 2010, it is merely impossible to do so unless you are Bill Gates or similar. Every other good idea has already been done and taken. There are a million bakeries, a million restaurants, a million coat hangers, and a gazillion paper clips. What is left is an even harder task to take that clay dough and make something new out of it, which you'll find out in the end, already exists on the other side of the globe.

It should no longer be called a "dog eat dog world". It is now simply "fist come, first serve world". So hurry in and get your piece of this lovely world we call our home.

Underneath it All

We dress up, dress down, casual smart, casual, soirée, beach chic, comfortable chic... etc, but have we ever stopped to wonder what is underneath it all? Behind every dress up and dress down what lies beneath that layer of cloth that separates your skin and the outside world?

I, personally, dress to emotion. I feel good i'll dress good, I feel sloppy i'll dress sloppy, and sometimes i get the occasional 'I need to feel good about myself' so i'll dress up accordingly. So what if clothes became an analysis point that psychology neglected and the read the body language books failed to mention.

If there were such a book, i'd write it. Careful analysis to a person's wardrobe gives great insight into a person's life. Take for instance, matchy matchy people: they are usually people who pick items according to color and theme, and never fail to notice even the tiniest detail like the color of the stitches in their underwear. The outcome of their outfits is usually a big tree or I heart RED, but this attention to detail is indeed a great indication to what they are like. These people not only have great attention to detail, but also have insecurities and most probably OCD to some level. They are perfectionists and idealists who are usually pretty harsh on themselves and sometimes low in self esteem.

Regardless of what is already known about people dressing their emotions, on some level, the hidden messages need to be read, especially those of the normal people. Emo and Goth dress dark and sad, rockstars dress flashy and glamourous, the rich and famous dress like the rich and famous but they all have one thing in common: they do not do it so subtly. The rest of us "normal" people, deserve some attention even if we don't end up on the cover of Vogue.

Maybe this could be the next break through in human analysis and being able to read a person without personal contact. Or maybe its just pure coincidence when the drier shrunk all my clothes and left me with this ensemble. Never the less it should be looked into and noticed.

Dear Vogue: Writing a book on outfit analysis will fly off the shelves BIG TIME.

Blindfolded

Imagine going through life with a blindfold on? Would we survive or we wind up in man made manholes in the streets, falling off buildings, walking into a mine field? But then again, these hazardous ways of dyeing are all man made. If we were all blind or blindfolded, would we be able to make these buildings? streets? cars? or know the time?

Sight is a given gift from God that is like two sides of a sword. There's a theory that for every existing bad thing is a counter cure or opposite that either exists or needs to be discovered. They're still working on cancer aren't they? So what if sight is a weapon to fight off harm. If you see a nail on the floor, you won't step on it.

But what if what is most harmful to us humans is things that cannot be seen with the naked eye. I'm not talking about tiny viruses stuck on a toilet seat, I'm talking about this that we never see coming. It usually come from other humans that we see all the time but they hit you like that bus you've never seen coming.

There are two sides of the moon. One we see and we can't. There are also two sides of people just like the moon. Literally and metaphorically speaking. One's eye can only see one side of everything, no matter how dimensional it is. There is always that other side of the bottle u cannot see, and physically speaking, you can never see the other side at the same time. What if this became a rule of thumb: There are to sides of a person, what you see and what you can't is not determined by your ability to see, but to their ability to show. As a second rule to that rule of thumb; see not only what you see, but also see the exact opposite.

Read My Mind

If you were allowed to have one superpower, what would it be?

Surprisingly, many would prefer the power to read minds. COME ON! I'd fly, Turn grass into gold, ...etc. But reading minds? what good does it do? Alright it may help in certain situations in which you'd like to know what the hell is the other person thinking, but, at what cost.

Given the power to read minds, you'd hear things you don't want to hear. Imagine this scenario:

Girl: Does this dress make me look fat?
Boy: NO babe it looks good on you!
but hears (OMG that looks so bad you've gained so much weight)
Girl: you LIED
Boy: I had to
Girl: Get out you F%^%$#%.... :(
Girl would be devastated...

If the argument of truth versus white lies was put aside, what is left for thought and imagination? do you really want to be Mr. or Mrs. KnowItAll?? If you do, think about the little things that keeps you guessing, the special moments of spontinuty, the surprise parties and gifts, think about the things you don't want to know and you're better off not knowing. Is it really worth it.

So try to FLY, you don't need the truth...!

Do You Really Want to Live Forever

Immortality has been an on going quest that mankind has been trying to pursue since it realized that morality is inevitable. Apart from all the (personally supported) plastic surgery that makes a person look younger, do we really want to go on living 'till the end of time?

Think about it! How many heartbreaks and tears can a person go through? It seems to me that a person endures enough pain throughout one lifetime and the repetition of that just seems idiotic.

If life would have a plot-line, it will go as follows: (* indicates estimated level of endured pain)

Born
Child
Teenager **
Young Adult ***
Adult *****
Older Adult ******
Even Older Adult *******
DeaD -----

I am sure that plot-line is not meant to be put on repeat for sound reasons. A person can only live once and that is more than enough. Even though some experience life in more ways than other, it is still life, and life comes with lots and lots of add-on problems, as well as good times. What defines living a life if a person is living it.

Take Edward Scissorhands for example. A story of a man-made man that feels and lives, yet cannot die for he is a machine. He lived on forever ALONE is sorrow for he cannot go through life as a normal person. If the ending changed and he stayed with the one he loved, she'll get old and die. And then what? He lives on alone forever remembering his love? Or does he find another and go through that cycle again? Makes you wonder.

Even though at a certain age, everyone starts thinking that they need more time, or a time machine to do things differently, but does living on forever make things any better? Does becoming a Vampire or a machine make us any better? As long as we feel, it is only necessary to live that one life and stop at the end.

So live life the way you ought to, the way you want to, stop looking for that everlasting feeling because nothing good lasts forever, and every good thing comes to an END.

Opposites Attract

As a girl, it is almost always natural to be troubled with thoughts about the opposite sex, BUT, how often do you think the opposite sex thinks about us. I've been given a lot of free time lately to think about the most random things and I have noticed that with the increase in free time, complex thoughts increase. Some believe in the productivity of thinking but i DO NOT.

Boys will be boys and girls will be girls, sometimes it gets to be boys will be girls and vice versa but, for the main point, both are different. However, the word OPPOSITE, in my opinion, is a total illusion, what made them the black and us the withe, the south and us the north. Who decided the Do's and Don'ts of this all, and who really follows that guidebook.

If persons came with a manual, then each should list possible side-effects and benefits of that person. I should walk around with a tag saying: possible mood swings, confusion, chaotic, short term memory loss...etc. IF ONLY the world was made this easy. But then again, if it was, would this make it any less tasteful? Would we really appreciate what we have if that is the case? Also, do people really know what they want and look for in partners?

"Opposites Attract" has always been a rule of thumb, but it is and always should be for magnets only. Not everyone can handle two extremes, grey is sometimes better than black and white!
