House Wife 2016

Last year I decided that I am not cut out to be in the working force. Maybe it was a combination of bad working environments and no reward, nonetheless I left. I wanted to be a 'house wife'.

So what does a house wife do? Basically  clean, cook, and maintain a house. Oh not to forget socialize. But in 2016, we have maids or maid companies that clean for us, we eat out or order in "for a change", and our husbands change all the lightbulbs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as a house wife today, I actually havr NOTHING to do! Even hobbies are out of fashion. Hobbies today are shortlisted to writing a blog or becoming a fashionista!

Help!

It's a Man's World!

Let me start off by stating one thing; I am NOT a feminist nor do I want to be, however, I AM anti expectations from me just because I am a female.

A few days ago, my insecurities went viral because of a small conversation I had with a someone (male) close to me (not my husband don't worry!). It all started out with me being the only girl wearing sneakers and wanting to go on a night out on the town in Dubai. If you've been there, you know that is merely impossible for a girl to get in a "cool" place wearing flats even if they were made of gold. For some reason heels are for safety reasons. Or maybe if I was taller on a wobbly thin heel is better for me who knows, but nonetheless, I was in sneakers and if you know me, I'm always in sneakers, so I got told off for blowing everyone's plans because of my shoes (I wasn't part of the plans to start with). When I tried to defend myself because I hate being in pain just for society standards (I also have bunion problems) I was told to suck it up and wear the freakin heels! So I tried to be sassy and say: have you ever worn heels before to know how I feel?! He said no, but that's not my job! Really?! Is it my JOB to wear heels?!

It didn't just stop there, he went on to tell me that I've gotten too comfortable since I got married! That I dress like a slouch and have forgotten how to be ladylike. Then my mind read the hint he was trying to give me: Like my entire life my aim was to get married then get fat! I have been more insecure about my weight and body image since I got married than I have ever been my entire life. It's like all my teenage monsters came back to congratulate me about getting married. It's not a welcomed visit and they've certainly overstayed they're welcome!

Why are we expected to dress up and look pretty all the time? What is this male dominated world we live in?! I'm not saying stop shaving your legs and stop wearing your bras, but if I don't wear heels it shouldn't make me any less of a woman! And if I'm not a certain size or fit, and I don't recollect having a standard to go by, then that doesn't make me uglier!

I say this trying to change people's minds and expectations about what women are expected to look like, but I still judge myself all the time for not looking like the girl in the magazine! Maybe if people should stop having such expectations I would too and live in piece!

Dear society,

Dear society,
Please stop looking at me weirdly for not wearing a scarf or covering my face. Please stop thinking I'm a whore because I do that. Please stop giving my husband nasty looks like he can't tame me when I do. Please mind your own business, your probably up to no good yourselves!

Please stop telling me I need to lose weight, being fat isn't the worst thing a person can be. Please stop lying to me and say I don't need to lose weight, we know that look. Please mind your worn business, I didn't ask you to carry me.

Please stop telling me and my husband it's time to have babies! It's not a game! And it's NONE of your business.

The uniform

So it's a lovely day well planned to head to the mall, watch a movie, and walk around. As soon as I walked in, I noticed that half the number of people are wearing uniforms, nanny uniforms! Is there a costume party I wasn't invited to or what is going on?! Why are taking over the mall?!

It's a sad world where families think their out for some family quality time and spend it with the maid. I get it, sometimes just sometimes you really need her, but when you reaaaaaallly do, treat her as the human being she is and don't dress her in her uniform! It's so demeaning. It's just as bad as sitting her at the table next to you when you eat!

If you don't think she should be treated like family then maybe she should be part of yours. Heck she might be more family than you are; she cooks, cleans, feeds, bathes, changes and more for your children who YOU should be taking care of. If you can't or don't have the time of the day, please appreciate what she does!

Add and Subtract

Some people like to use the term 'negative' to describe a person who may be a pessimist, a downer, a non-believer, or just complains too much.

But if we just stick to basic maths, negative is just quantity.

If its just a quantity, then remember the rules of multiplying a negative number: a negative number multiplied by a positive number equals a negative number. A negative number multiplied by a negative number equals positive.

Today's lesson: get all those soul draining negative people together and make be happy!

The Guilt-trip Meter

Guilt-tripping has always been an effective way to get someone to do something, not to do something, or to get out of something you are guilty of.

Being a user guilt-tripping, you either are good, really good, or just plain bad. Being a victim of guilt-tripping, you may just be plain too nice and just plain used over and over again.

This is why I believe someone somewhere should invent the Guilt-trip Meter. This meter will be designed I let the 'nice' people tell I that is bullshit or guilt-shit (excuse my French). But until someone does, here are some basic rules:
1. If you are feeling guilt caused by someone for something that you did NOT do, they're users.
2. If you are feeling guilt cause by someone for something that you did DO and had to do, they're users.
3. If you are feeling guilt caused by someone for something that you did do and wanted to do anyways, they are users.
4. If you're doing something you shouldn't do but don't feel guilty than maybe you should.

Here's a small tip for users and receivers, wake up and smell the coffee.

The Generation of the Brokenhearted

When I was younger, the world was such a beautiful place and fairytales were believed in. But somewhere along the yellow brick road, Dorothy realized it was just a dream and cut the trip to Emerald city short. But, what if, you liked Munchkin land and the fairies? What if you really want those Glass slippers and meet your prince charming who will fight a dragon and give you the kiss of life?!
Let’s face it; times have changed!

Your tooth fairy is really your mother and she won’t wave her wand and turn a pumpkin into a wagon and you won’t make it to the ball.

My theory is that somewhere along the road, the children that were later to become our mothers have gotten that reality bite growing up and they’re trying to protect us from it. They all grew up believing in a modern fairytale where she meets the prince in disguise, fall in love, and live happily ever after. The sad truth is that over the past century, so many hearts have been broken that it is almost impossible to let your child watch Cinderella and not tell her: Sweetie, it aint gonna happen! We are our parents’ reaction to the world of disappointment that you grow inevitably pessimistic.

Think about it! Women are where they are today not because they have asked for equality and they deserve it, but because they got stepped on so many times and realized they need to stand on their own (no man needed) in order to survive. And this is catching on in our little “Arab” society.

10, 20 years ago, girls were brought up to believe in marriage and children. They were taught how to take care of their families and they were happy about it. Someone somewhere decided to pull the plug on that thought, and the attention has been shifted to a career path and leaving the children at home.

I am a personal believer that this alleged “Women’s Rights” movement has done more harm than good!

The real right we need is the right of choice and the support that comes with it. If I choose to be a working woman, so be it, if I don't, dont march on my parade!

Take back your rights we don’t want ‘em!

The "Anti-Man Repeller"

When I first started following the Man Repeller, I completely stopped wearing red lipstick because I thought it would be a ‘repellant’, totally ditched the dropped crotch pants, over accessorizing, and started doing my hair more often.

It’s like I got an allergic reaction! I was learning what NOT-TO-DO in order not to become the Man Repeller without noticing. Soon enough it turned into more of a don’t-wear-anything that’s in-style, otherwise, no man will like you. Not that my whole purpose of dressing up is to look appealing to the opposite sex, but insecurities do take a toll on a person’s fashion sense.

Don’t get me wrong, I love what she’s done for herself; she made TRF a world known abbreviation, but at the same time, she killed it for girls who want to be daring. Even though it is very women-empowered-don’t-give-a-**** wear whatever you want and have fun with it world, she makes you (OK ME) think I’d repel men if I was into fashion. She also makes you feel that the only market you would look appealing to be women!

Now this may not apply to everyone, but I personally dress according to how I feel about myself. You’d usually find me in a loose-fitted everything or that little black dress that makes you look like you’ve lost 10 pounds. So, what if, even that loose-fitted favorite shirt of yours, you repel men with the way you dress. Would you stop wearing it? I did!

It took some time (I do not trust my ability to count) for me to get back to wearing what was comfortable again. I was so dedicated to not doing what the Man Repeller does, that I failed to notice the reality of things: Men don’t really care what you are wearing! They really don’t!

Maybe men in my region are different, but I do believe that the United States of America is more open to what women can wear or look like. It is we who have the stereotypes and fear the un-normal and ban girls who decide to look like boys from going to school!

It all started with a-too-much-of-a-hair-trim a year ago that had my hair go for Pocahontas to J.I.JANE. I still have mixed feelings about my experience but it made me realize what the big deal was. The BIG deal was NOT what you wear (trust me, I didn’t go through a wardrobe change along with the hair) but it’s how you wear yourself. Let me correct that: it’s how you carry yourself. YES! It does mean don’t slouch and don’t drag your arms along the sidewalk or have your hips walk in front of your body, Oh, and look pretty! If you are one of the less fortunate of God’s given natural beauty, fix yourself up! This doesn’t mean go to extremes and drastic measures, but put some effort into it. No body and I mean NO BODY wants to see a hairy lipped poofy eyed “fashionista” on the streets.

See for me, the more “man repelly” I dressed, the more I focused on my face and balanced it out (and you can do it the other way around).

Oh and with the risk of sounding cheesy, dress for yourself don’t dress for a man. He should like you for who you are, and that DOES include the day you felt like wearing your pajama top to work.

Turns out, it’s not what you wear; it’s how you wear it, literally!

Diary of the Anti-social

"Dear Diary,

Today, I woke up with a big smile on my face. I singing Christmas songs in the shower, while getting ready, in the car, at the bank, at work, and still have some left in my head. I think today is going to be a wonderful wonderful day where I’m going to spread love and feel the love. Today is the day I feel like throwing a big party just for the sake of it. But then again, NAAAAAAH I don't feel like it!

Dear Diary,

Today I’m just going to stay home!"

How close is a person to anti-socialism when that’s the case almost every day?! Is he/she anti-social or selectively-social?!

In a world where love and hate is expressed easily and vigorously on daily basis, “I LOVE YOU MAIL MAN”, you can only expect this out of people who are tired of generating the "love" every day!

Maybe it’s an age thing. But are you supposed to grow so self-centered to turn into the anti-social friend of your aunt's you never want to be?!

All I know is that we are required to meet social standards and do social obligations. But what if your normal hang-outs are becoming these 'social obligations' where you'd rather skip and make an excuse to your mom that you have nothing to wear?!

Here's where I came up with the Levels of Friendship Meter:

•"Friends": People you are gladfuly obliged to hang out with and constantly expressing your 'feelings' for. You usually have to also compliment and respond to compliments in a 'loving way'.

•Acquaintances: People you have to be nice to because they are your mother's friends or friend's friends. You usually think twice whether you should say hi if you meet without the friend in common. They may seem nice but once you get to know them well enough, they might move to the "friends" or friends’ zone.

•Friends: People you like, love, or hate. You are allowed to make fun of each other, complain, ask for advice, and you usually like to hang out with them.

•BFFs: People you see about 4 times a year, but when you see them, it feels natural. They are the people you ask for help choosing your wedding dress, name your child after, and talk about the zit you just popped and what came out of it.

In a perfect world, you'd want to move to an island with all your BBF's and live together. Your friends might visit you all year round and bring you good foods and gifts too!

If you want to know who's who in your life, try to figure this out first: Is it you or is it your friends?

Its a Big Big World

So we hit human number 7 billion last week, did it make a difference? Should it?

It’s amazing with such a growing population, humans are growing to become more human-less each day; Ruthless leaders, Child laborers, human traffickers, and poor poor people who just cannot do anything about it. What's worse is lucky ass bastards like us that are "living the life" and not caring about the rest of the world.

This is not a send you on a guilt trip kind of lesson, but more of a, hey, think of the less fortunate.

If you cry over your phone breaking, some child in another part of the world is crying for a bowl of rice or clean water. You think you had a bad childhood because your mother didn't give you enough candy; some kid is bleeding his hands at working on some "brand" jeans you're wearing now.

Again, I am seriously not trying to send you on a guilt trip, but it seriously could have been a lot worse. Try to think of yourself as insignificant.

If you can't make the world not revolve around you, here's a way to do it oh so subtly: YOU can help the world. Donate, boycott, work, DO SOMETHING, and then you can SO brag about it as much as you want. If I am one of the fortunate people that had to hear about it, say it as many times as you want to, just do something first.

Best Face Forwards...

We usually put our "best face forwards" in interviews, first dates, meeting the parents, and almost any new encounter with a new human being. Sometimes it happens so naturally whether we really care about that person or not.

But what happens if that "face" stays around for too long?! Can you tell the difference if that really is you or you've just gotten used to it you cant make any other faces?!

Perhaps if we put a "bad" face forwards at first, then people will expect the unexpected. Rather than having the good one on then get a slap on with a smile.

But what happens to those incapable of putting on a bad face or some atittude?! Are we really that nice? Maybe not. But, as much as I am afraid of sounding like a "hippie" with world peace in mind, I believe if we take this nice thing seriously, the 7 billionth baby expected to be born on the 31st of October 2011 would be born into a beautiful world.

Crystal Ball, Crystal Ball

Crystal ball crystal ball... Save us all, tell me life is beautiful...

Sometimes I wonder, if there were a crystal ball that we can look into to see the future, see the past, see the present. We are always looking for answers, trying to solve equasions, wondering what if and what not. If we did in some magical ways using a crystal ball, or even a magic 8-ball, knew the answers to everything, will it be the answer that made it happen or what happened that made the answer.

I'd like to believe in believing, in the unanswered. I'd also like to believe that everyone has a crystal ball that reveals the insides of their souls. Whether that crystal is "crystal clear" or not is totally up to the person carying it.

"He who lives by the crystal ball soon learns to eat ground glass."

Insignificant Bastards

It’s always in every human’s nature to see himself / herself as the most important being on the planet. We all do it, no matter how old or mature we get, the “I” is “number I”.

I seem to think highly of myself but there are those days, where I decide that the i isn’t capitalized and it is insignificant. Don’t get me wrong it is not a self-esteem issue; it’s more of a “look at the greater picture” or “could’ve been worse” kind of thing. Come to think about it, it could have been worse!

According to the World Wide Web, there are 6,989,804,337 people populating this earth up to second. If each one has a billion problems can we do the math? Some people are worse off of course. There are starving children, abused mothers, raped girls, drug addicts, wrongfully accused and heartbroken people all over the world. But who gets to decide who’s got it bad?

Today I am letting the I step aside for an i and think about the bigger picture. Its also the day I decide not to complain about it to people with bigger problems cause that’s just insensitive. So I’ll just write about it.

Heart Break

Many unforeseen events can cause a heart to break or explode. Not a bullet through the heart but other "non-tangible" knives to the heart. Unfortunately it is commonly known that heartbreak comes from HIM or HER.

Today, I suffer from a broken heart but HE did not break it nor did she. Today it just broke itself. Maybe i just fail to distingish the difference between heartache and heart break but it is all just pain.

Apart from the sudden "bullet to the heart" that tears the heart apart, I came up with a new theory: the heart it’s frozen, making it more fragile to break to the touch. It may be the cleanest way of a heart break, or cutting through a piece of muscle that strong, or the least painful and mostly numb, but it still breaks the heart.

If you can still feel your heart, go ahead and duck tape it back together.

Better To Have Loved and Lost...

Than to have never loved at all...

OR

Better not to have loved at all... than to have loved and lost?!!

It is human nature to protect one's heart. The heart is what keeps us alive, physically and emotionally. Set aside the physical dangers that may keep you from living, what about the emotional dangers.

We build walls and building blocks around our heart so that we'd never feel the agony of loss! we might even go as far as making minefields and war-zones so far around it. But for what?!

Think of it this way, your heart is a coffee machine: got to push that button to get it started. You do of course need good coffee, water, etc. sometimes get a bad grind, but hey, at the end of the day, if you like coffee, you got to do it.

Never mind the ongoing never-ending argument, it is my personal belief that you live only once, and feel only so much. It is my own quest to live and feel every feeling I am capable of feeling, because I CAN and I WANT to.

Cause your friends are my friends

I’m writing this with a smile on my face. I’m writing this with love and happiness. I LOVE friends! And no I am not talking about F.R.I.E.N.D.S, which I do love, but I’m talking about all the people that have touched my life in ways that I could not imagine.

Friends are the cushion that we rest our heads on. No matter how long and tiring, how stressful, how hectic, how crazy, how miserable your day was, you always go back to the place you started your day; YOUR BED! And what use is your bed without that fluffy feeling of ecstasy that you rest your head on?!

I LOVE YOU ALL!

Fairytale Gone Bad

Did you grow up watching Cinderella, the Little Mermaid, Pocahontas, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and all the disney fairytales stories? If you answered YES then, may the Lord have mercy on your soul. Sure, its nice to "sugercoat" things sometimes, but you can't really sugarcoat life now can you.

Our generation, unlike other generations, unfortunately has been mislead to believe the world is like a fairytale where you will always get your happy ending. These misconceptions were made by watching movies that not only disoriented the truth, but gave us hope to do the impossible.

Have you ever noticed how it is always black or white?! Not to the literal meaning of black or white, but that in all those movies, things are either good or evil. And there's always ONE evil person that trying to make the world a bad place using magical powers and being worshiped by deformed monster-like creatures.

In what twisted world does a witchy stepmother talk to a mirror and give us poison apples or try to kill us? Did this not make a bad stereotype about stepmothers?

What about Prince Charming? Was he not the man of our dreams? Is he still not?

These stories have managed to make the prince who's got it all, and if I may add is either a player or a commitment phobic, a man who falls in love and fights fire-breathing dragons and give us the kiss of life. This is why our perception of the truth is deformed. This is why when we get burned, we turn into ash instead of having a burn-mark. This is why we hope and hope until we've run out of hope because these movies have told us that he WILL fall in LOVE and marry you.

How many frogs are we expected to kiss till we've turned one into a prince? How many endless hours of nights must we wait locked up in some tower? Or when are we going to start speaking a language we never heard just by "listening to our heart"?

We all need to wake up and smell the lies.

YOU ARE NOT A PRINCESS
THIS ISN'T A FAIRYTALE
YOU'RE NOT THE ONE HE SWEAPS OFF YOUR FEET AND LEAD HER UP THE STAIRWELL

GAMES GAMES GAMES

As a child, who didn't want to play, but as an adult, aren't you tired already?

There are millions of games that we can enjoy and there are millions that we wouldnt. Would you try the Russian Roullete? didn't think so.

Who makes the rules here? do YOU? is the ball in your court or his? are you playing it right? don't hate the player, hate the game!

Some may think, as long as its safe or harmless (usually physically), its fine. But, WHY?! I personally am NOT into mind games or mind f**king. I like puzzles. Puzzles are good, solvable, and never harmed anyone. All the pieces are there, you just need to fit them right. Even if you can't, its still there.

Its all fun and game 'till someone gets hurt.

My mother is a firm believer that games and quizes help the brain, prevent early arthritis, preserves memory. But, need she knows of what the term 'game' refers to these days.

Today, games are like a never ending Monopoly; boring and never ending. Sure, its fun at first. But after a few rounds, one might just through in the dice and give up. Whether they're broke, tired, or just simply not up for it, they eventually give up. Leaving the last man or woman standing.

Life as a game, would SUCK! sure its entertaining sometimes, but it gets tiring. It gets old, and it gets to a point where it turnes into a gamble before losing everything.

Play it right!

There is black, there is white, there is light, there is dark, and there are all that falls in between. There is emotional, there is shallow, there is right, there is wrong, and there is good and there is bad. There is mild, there is sharp, there is smart, there is dumb, but what about the undefined?

Ever since mankind can use language to describe a person, mankind mistakenly defined that person based on that word of language. Even though there are millions of words in thousands of languages, one person should not be described in words.

Some people are good, some are bad, and some are grey. They are the uncategorized. Some are nice, some are not, and some might just be the next best thing if they had their morning coffee or not.

There’s an old Arabic saying that reads: ‘everyone sees the world like he or she see their own’. This simply means that people judge other peoples actions and define them as they do their own. I like to call it ‘the world is mine’ syndrome. We fail to recognize that others aren’t like us; they do not see with our eyes or hear with our ears, they do not feel with our soul. Therefore, they should never be judged as we would ourselves.

The uncategorized is everyone, it just depends on who they’re viewed by. Just file them correctly!
